You're losing money on every card tip.

Pay out tips without eating Square's fees. Every card tip costs you about 2.6%, and you pay the full tip out anyway. Better Tips reads your Square timecards and payments and shows exactly what each employee's tips cost you, so you can pay out net tips in minutes.

Square charges its fee on tips too.

On a $10 card tip, Square keeps about 26¢ and you pay out the full $10. Across a pay period that adds up, and nothing in Square shows you the number. Better Tips does: card tips, Square's fee, and net tips for every employee, from the payments themselves.

Before

The problem

Fees come out of your deposit, tips go out in full, and the difference is a guess until you rebuild it in a spreadsheet.

After

The solution

The exact fee Square took on each tip, to the cent, with the math shown on every row.

Common questions

What does Better Tips actually do?

It reads the timecards and payments already in your Square account and turns them into a pay-period report: hours, card tips, the Square fee on those tips, and net tips for every employee and location, ready to hand to payroll.

Why is there a fee on tips?

Square's processing fee applies to the whole charge, tip included. On a $10 card tip at 2.6% + 15¢, that's about 26 cents that comes out of your deposit while the full $10 goes to the employee. Better Tips shows you the exact amount on every transaction instead of an estimate.

How are tips split?

Each transaction's tip is split equally among the tip-eligible employees who were clocked in at that location when it happened, the same way Square distributes tips. Every allocation is traceable back to the timecard and payment it came from.

Do I have to change how my team clocks in?

No. Better Tips is read-only. Your team keeps using Square Team and the POS exactly as they do today; Better Tips just does the math at the end of the period.

Is my Square data safe?

Better Tips connects through Square's official OAuth flow with read-only scopes, and you can disconnect at any time from your team settings. Read the privacy policy.

Can I use it with more than one location?

Yes. Pick a location to see its report on its own, or roll everything up across the whole team.
